Bowes Museum is a hidden treasure located in the heart of beautiful Teesdale. This magnificent building stands in Barnard Castle and is home to a wide range of nationally renowned art collections. The museum exhibits collections old and new and has something for everyone.
One of their main attractions is the Silver Swan, this musical automaton is a much-loved piece at Bowes Museum. The swan dates back to 1773 making it a must see! You can watch the swan perform everyday at 2.00 and the performance lasts for 40 seconds.

High Force, located just a 30-minute drive from Thorpe Farm is a natural waterfall and is considered one of the most spectacular waterfalls in England. This day out is perfect for those who like exploration and walking. The waterfall is open daily from 10am till 5pm and admission is only £1.50 for adults and 50p for children.
If you are into photography this is a great attraction as it offers some fantastic shots. You can walk around the waterfall and above it, giving you a chance to say this amazing force of nature from all angles.
Raby Castle is just a short drive from High Force making it a perfect stop on the way back to Thorpe Farm. This magnificent castle stands tall against the green countryside of Teesdale and embraces its hidden history…
Raby castle was built in the 14 century and is set in 200 acres of parkland. You can not only walk around the grounds of this historic site, but you can also walk the halls of this stunning castle. There are guided tours available or you can walk around at your own pace if you decide.
