Halloween starts early at Thorpe Farm with our Halloween Trail, running from the beginning of October until 23rd October.
Our regular maize trail gets a spooky seasonal makeover, creating a fun autumn activity for families looking for Halloween events near Darlington.
Follow the trail, explore the maize and see what Halloween surprises you can discover along the way.
It’s a great way to get into the Halloween spirit before the half-term holidays begin.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin at Thorpe Farm
10th October – 28th October 2026
No October day out is complete without choosing your Halloween pumpkin!
Our Thorpe Farm Pumpkin Patch opens on 10th October and runs until 28th October, giving families plenty of opportunities to come along and find their perfect pumpkin.
Whether you’re looking for the biggest pumpkin you can carry, the perfect shape for carving or simply want to enjoy an autumn day out together, a trip to the pumpkin patch is a Halloween tradition the whole family can enjoy.
Combine your visit with the Halloween Trail earlier in the month for even more autumn fun at Thorpe Farm.

Halloween Fun Run

Fancy starting your Sunday with something a little different?
Join us for the Thorpe Farm Halloween Fun Run on Sunday 18th October at 9am.
It’s a fun and friendly event with a Halloween twist, so dig out your trainers – and your fancy dress if you fancy getting into the spirit!
Entry is just £2 on the day, with proceeds going towards UTASS (Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services).
Whether you’re running, jogging or simply coming along to support everyone taking part, it’s a great way to spend an autumn morning.

Thorpe Farm Halloween Scare Maze
29th, 30th & 31st October 2026
Think you’re brave enough?
October finishes with our biggest Halloween event of the year: the Thorpe Farm Halloween Scare Maze.
For three nights only, the maze is transformed into an immersive Halloween experience featuring live actors, atmospheric sets, special effects, jump scares and plenty of unexpected encounters.
This isn’t simply a walk through a Halloween maze. The experience has been designed to keep you guessing about what might be waiting around the next corner.
Family Halloween Sessions
For younger visitors and families, our earlier sessions provide a more family-focused way to experience the Halloween maze.
Please remember that the experience is still designed to create some fright, so parents should consider whether it is suitable for their individual children.
After Dark Scare Maze
When darkness falls, things get considerably scarier.
Our After Dark sessions are designed for horror fans, thrill-seekers and anyone brave enough to enter the maze.
Expect live actors, jump scares, eerie encounters and plenty of surprises from start to finish.
The After Dark experience is recommended for ages 14+.
