Located as we are on the borders of County Durham, we’re fortunate to offer and enjoy an abundance of cycling routes and walks in North Yorkshire. Whether you’re after a short local ramble in the area, or something longer and more challenging, we’ve got you covered.
We have good access straight off the A66 and ample free parking. On your arrival why not meet up in our popular Cafe for a coffee and a homemade scone whilst you map out your route? You can even order takeaway sandwiches for your trip.
Enjoy walking through grassy dells, established woodland, and wetland habitats here at Thorpe Farm Centre, and explore further afield via the bridle path which tunnels under the A66.

Dales on the doorstep
All our local walks and dog walks in North Yorkshire utilise the existing footpath network and take in some of the finest sites in the area. This includes the banks of the River Greta and the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ where the River Greta joins the River Tees. The Morritt Arms, a charming country house hotel with a beautiful pub, is just a mile away on the bridleway.
To the south of Thorpe Farm Centre you will find Barningham and the Moors above. This is the start of the Yorkshire Dales and the views of Teesdale from the footpaths are breathtaking!

We are lucky enough to based on the border between County Durham and North Yorkshire, meaning there are some brilliant local attractions that you can enjoy a decent walk to. Whether it be Barnard Castle or Bowes Museum, you will be truly amazed when you visit and have the chance to explore the beautiful North East and experience the beautiful walks in North Yorkshire.
