If you’re searching for padel near Richmond, exciting news is on the horizon. Thorpe Farm is preparing to open two brand-new indoor padel courts, bringing one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports closer to players across Richmond, North Yorkshire, Barnard Castle and the wider region.
Located just a short drive from Richmond, Thorpe Farm’s new indoor facility will provide a fantastic place to play padel all year round, whatever the weather. Whether you’re completely new to the sport or already a keen player, our courts will offer a welcoming environment for social games, coaching sessions and competitive matches.
As padel continues to grow rapidly across the UK, we’re excited to be creating a new destination for players looking for high-quality indoor courts in the local area.
What Is Padel?
Padel is a fun and social racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash. Played on an enclosed court with glass walls, the game is typically played in doubles, although singles courts are becoming increasingly popular.
One of the reasons padel has become so popular is that it’s easy to learn. Beginners can enjoy rallies almost immediately, while experienced players can develop more advanced skills and tactics as they progress.
The sport is suitable for all ages and abilities, making it a fantastic way to stay active, meet new people and enjoy some friendly competition.
New Indoor Padel Courts Near Richmond
Thorpe Farm’s new facility will feature two purpose-built indoor padel courts:
- One full-size doubles court
- One singles court
Because the courts are located indoors, players will be able to enjoy padel throughout the year, regardless of the weather outside. Rain, wind and cold winter days won’t stop play, making it the perfect destination for regular games and year-round activity.
Conveniently located for players from Richmond, Barnard Castle, Darlington, Bishop Auckland and beyond, Thorpe Farm is set to become one of the most accessible places to play indoor padel in the region.
From Grain Store to Padel Courts: A New Chapter for Thorpe Farm
One of the most exciting parts of the project is the transformation of an existing farm building into a modern indoor sports facility.
The building that will soon house Thorpe Farm Padel was once a working grain store, playing an important role in the day-to-day operations of the farm. Rather than letting the building sit unused, we’re giving it a new lease of life and creating a fantastic destination for sport, fitness and community.
Over the coming months, the former grain store will be transformed into a purpose-built indoor padel venue, blending the building’s agricultural heritage with a modern sporting future.
Alongside the courts, a brand-new extension is currently being constructed on the side of the building. This new space will provide a comfortable breakout area where players can relax before and after games, catch up with friends, watch the action on court and enjoy refreshments.
The project represents an exciting new chapter for Thorpe Farm, creating a unique facility that stays true to its roots while bringing one of the world’s fastest-growing sports to the local area.
Visitors can already see the transformation taking shape, with construction progressing well and regular updates being shared across our social media channels.
